Our book descriptions tend to focus on the condition of the book, rather than its contents. This is because we are a book collector’s site, and we assume you know what you are looking for. But if that isn’t the case, don’t fret, simply contact us regarding the content of an item.
Nearly all of our stock is in Very Good or better condition, and our book descriptions note all defects. We stabilize most minor defects with archival quality materials, and with few exceptions, these stabilizations are reversible. Our book rating standards are as follows:
Fine (+): clean, bright, tight, no wear, no defects ("as new")
Fine: not perfectly bright, minor marks or other slight defects
Very Good (VG): small to medium tears, chips, marks, cocked etc.
Good (G): not so much, with larger tears or chips, possibly soiled, cocked, lacking a non-essential page, etc.
Fair: ugly, with pages or large areas of DJ missing or other major defects, such as a missing text page
Poor (P): truly ugly, disbound or requiring other major rehabilitation
On occasion you will see the statement “Not a pretty girl.” at the end of a book’s description. You can expect this to be a solid book with noticeable cosmetic issues. Very, very rarely you will see the comment “A real pig.” at the end of a book’s description. Need we say more?
